Realm Nations: The Ultimate Minecraft Server
Over the past few months, my brother and I have been working on creating the ultimate Minecraft Nations server, Realm Nations: Con's Quest, and today, it is finally public for anyone to join and play themselves. The IP is mc.realmnations.net. Some cool features include a fully custom map, with custom terrain generation and structures all throughout the map. Some of these structures are towers which can transport players to a large, interconnected dungeon. Also, the spawn has NPCs that can give players quests and shops where players can buy and sell goods. However, this is not the first server with the "Realm Nations" name, there have been several previous Minecraft realms/servers.
Realm Nations began sometime during 2020 as a Minecraft Bedrock Realm hosted by my brother, TheUltraDinoboy. The basic idea was to invite a bunch of our friends to the realm and each create our own nation. And so we did. My friends and I carved out a small home in a mountain and I called our nation the "Connor Empire" (terrible name). Dinoboy and his friend, Lbomb, travelled a couple thousand blocks from spawn and settled in the plains. He wanted the nation to be a capitalist one, and Lbomb wanted a Communist Nation. Eventually, they agreed on Communism, so they began calling themselves the "Communation".
Sometime after both of our nations had been established, we invited our cousins CustomWarfarez and TallTrippin, who formed the Fire Nation. Our cousins invited their friends, which made the Fire Nation the largest nation of the server. At some point, I got tired of the Connor Empire getting griefed and I wanted a more secretive place to live, so I moved with a few of my friends and founded the "Solar Nation". This nation was like my previous one, except the location was a secret and we larped as Sun worshippers.
Overtime, the Realm grew inactive and eventually Dinoboy ended it once it had run its course. Sometime after the first Realm ended, my cousin hosted a 2nd Realm which we called "Realm Nations 2", however this one died much sooner than the first and was less active. Some nations from the 2nd Realm were the Automation Nation and the Solar Tribe.
It was a couple years before there was a new Realm Nations, but eventually I began hosting a Minecraft Java server called "Realm Nations: Fractured Lands", as a true sequel to the original Realm Nations Bedrock Realm. Dinoboy wrote some lore for this server to explain some things such as the new continent terrain generation we used for the server, the build height limit increase and the fact that I was not actually playing in survival on the server, but just hosting it.
The lore can be summed up as: "Connor, leader of the Solar Nation built a tall tower to touch the Sun, but in doing so accidentally created an apocalypse that broke the build height limit, split the land apart into continents and turned him into a god."
During the server, Dinoboy lived on his own in a big dinosaur skull as somewhat of a hermit. TallTrippin got a bunch of the former Fire Nation members, built the city of Windhelm and founded the Phoenix Nation.
The server was somewhat successful, but I feel it had a lot of wasted potential. The server died too quickly and I didn't do enough for the server as it's host. We had plans to do some cool stuff, such as a custom, hostile dimension called the Solarscape.
For years, Fractured Lands was the end of Realm Nations. Until a few months ago when Dinoboy and I began discussing the idea of a new Minecraft server, and naturally we decided on making another installment of Realm Nations.
For this server, I wanted to go much bigger than ever before. Since Fractured Lands had a lot of wasted potential, I decided I wanted to go all out on the next server so I have no regrets. This meant that there have been a lot of hurdles that Dinoboy and I have had to jump through, but it was all worth it.
It started with me making a rough sketch of what I wanted the continents of the world to look like, then Dinoboy made some alterations, and we came up with something we both were happy with. Then, Dinoboy found a good terrain generation plugin and a way to draw a biome map in Paint.NET. Dinoboy did most of the work with creating the terrain of the world, which I let him do because I'm lazy but also because he's a perfectionist who put a lot of thought into making the perfect map. He truly did do a great job.
The creation of the terrain took a long time, but once that was finished, we began adding stuff to the server. We added a bunch of plugins, many of which were used in Realm Nations: Fractured Lands. Since that server ended, I've gained a lot more experience with Minecraft plugins, so that helped a lot with finding good plugins and configuring them properly.
We also built a huge city at spawn called the Solar City, the vast majority of which was done by TallTrippin. He's a very good builder and it shows when you join the server for the first time and lay your eyes on the Solar City. TheUltraDinoboy did most of the interiors of the houses, as well as the exotic fish markets on the docks. The city has plots that can be bought by players and nations and turned into shops or embassies. There are also NPCs that give out quests to the players. As such, I decided to name the server "Realm Nations: Con's Quest".
I added many ruins throughout the world, many of which were taken from older servers and Realms. I wanted to focus even more on the lore of this server than the previous, so I added written books in the chests of the ruins which tell the history of each nation.
One of the greatest additions to this server are the Sun Spires. The Sun Spires are tall towers that transport the player to an immense, interconnected labyrinth of a dungeon. The dungeon contains challenging bosses, custom mobs and can be used as a sort of fast travel system.
Now that Realm Nations: Con's Quest is available to join. The server is crossplay, so you can join from Java or Bedrock. The server is running version 1.21.4, but players on other versions can join due to some of the plugins the server has. Con's Quest also has its own Discord server, which is where people post information about their nations and characters, though this is not required. Now get out there and do my quest! Thanks for reading.
